- Why do you require a Diagnostic Review to do a Clean-Up?
- The complication, and therefore the pricing, of a Clean-up depends on multiple factors including the severity of the problems, the time periods needing cleanup (whether it’s one month or several years), and the type of industry. Keep in mind that cleanups are often time-consuming and require extensive collaboration to gather the necessary information from you about certain transactions. Larger cleanup projects can take anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks. I cannot quote a Clean-up without a Diagnostic Review.
- What is a Diagnostic Review?
- Often, business owners come to me saying, “My books are a mess, I need you to clean them up.” Before I can recommend a solution, I must first conduct a thorough evaluation of your books. This process is detailed and time-consuming, but it is essential before I can provide an accurate quote for a cleanup job. Once the review is complete, I will present you with a report of my findings, along with an estimated cost to address the issues identified. At that point, it’s up to you to decide whether you want to proceed with the cleanup. If you choose to move forward, 50% of the Diagnostic Review fee will be applied to the cost of the cleanup project.
- Do you work with other accounting software besides Quickbooks?
- Quickbooks is the most common accounting software for small businesses but it doesn’t fit everyone’s needs. If you are already set up with another accounting software or if you want to make a change, I’m happy to look at it and determine if it’s something I can work with.
- What are your qualifications?
- I have been bookkeeping for small businesses for over 20 years, am a Quickbooks ProAdvisor, Quickbooks Trained Bookkeeper, and have worked for Quickbooks as an Expert Bookkeeper. I’ve also co-owned 5 small businesses with my husband so unlike a lot of bookkeepers who only know bookkeeping, I know what it’s like to own my own business and care about helping you make yours succeed.
- Why do I need a bookkeeper, I have a CPA?
- CPA’s are all about the big picture while bookkeepers focus on the details. Most CPA’s don’t do bookkeeping work and instead pass it off to an in-house bookkeeper and charge more for it. Many people think that bookkeepers are just expensive data entry, but we have to be incredibly accurate and understand bookkeeping principles or it could cost your business. We also regularly analyze your data so that you can know how your business is performing throughout the year, instead of just at tax time. Hiring an outside bookkeeper also provides an extra check on your books to prevent fraud.
- Do I need to sign a contract?
- Yes, it’s called a Service-Level Agreement. It will outline the services you choose and lay out the responsibilities of both parties to ensure a professional and productive working relationship.
